There are many popular 4WD tracks within West Wimmera Shire, including in the Little Desert National Park and Big Desert Wilderness Park. 

The best times to visit is from April through to October. It is advisable to travel with another vehicle as there are no rescue services with limited, to no mobile coverage. Most tracks are not signposted. Do not attempt to visit the Little Desert or Big Desert in summer or in dry conditions, as the roads are too sandy and there is a high risk of fire.
