Goroke
Nestled near the southern edge of the Little Desert National Park, Goroke is a laid-back rural town with wide streets, big skies, and a strong community spirit.
Known for its striking silo mural featuring a magpie, kookaburra and galah, Goroke is a must-see stop on the Silo Art Trail. It’s also a great base for exploring nearby Little Desert and Mt Arapiles, with opportunities for bushwalking, wildflower spotting, and glimpses of the elusive malleefowl.

Nearby Lake Charlegrark is popular for swimming, canoeing, and fishing, and also hosts the annual Country Music Marathon - a weekend of lakeside boot-scooting and fun. Just east of town, the Jane Duff memorial commemorates the incredible 1864 survival story of three lost children rescued by Aboriginal trackers - one of Australia’s earliest bush rescue legends.
The township itself is home to a friendly farming community and features a wide main street with an antique store, golf course, bowls club, and more. Don’t miss the Little Desert Nature Playspace for the kids, the local war memorial, and peaceful spots like Lake Ratzcastle for camping or a quiet afternoon.
