Edenhope
Nestled on the banks of Lake Wallace, Edenhope is the relaxed regional centre of West Wimmera - where rich history, art, and nature blend with a friendly country atmosphere.
The lake is the heart of the town, offering year-round opportunities for fishing, boating, birdwatching and lakeside strolls. In the right season, you might even spot a brolga dancing in the shallows. It was here, on these grassy shores, that Australia’s first international cricket team trained before touring England in the 1860s - a moment now marked by a cenotaph near the water’s edge.
Edenhope is also home to a growing arts scene. Striking birdlife murals by Geoffrey Carran bring the town’s walls to life, while the Red Tail Gallery showcases exhibitions by regional artists. For something a little different, Now Dach's a Gallery - a dachshund-themed museum - adds a quirky twist, especially during the annual Day of the Dackel.
Take a stroll down the main street to find antiques, cafés, and local produce. Stop by the Visitor Information Centre, located inside the town’s historic courthouse, for tips on where to explore next - from wildflower walks to cockatoo sightings.
Throughout the year, Edenhope plays host to a number of events, including the Henley on Lake Wallace carnival, Edenhope Cup, the Edenhope Show, and an annual fishing competition.
Whether you’re here for a day or settling in for a lakeside stay, Edenhope offers space to breathe, things to see, and a warm country welcome.
